Live Authentically. Shine Brightly.

Live authentically. Shine Brightly.

At Headfirst, that’s one of our mottos. We believe that being authentic- being your true self- is the key to unlocking your potential and living fully. In the words of William Wallace in Braveheart- “Every man dies. Not every man lives.”

Living an authentic life doesn’t mean that you will always be happy. Everyone experiences peaks and valleys, highs and lows, times of joy and times of stress. But if we are living as our true self, we can learn to accept both the happiness and the hard times that come our way. Living authentically means living to your potential and becoming the amazing and unique person that you are. It means not living by the standards and expectations that others have set for you, but creating your own.

The shine brightly part comes from our belief that the world is a better place when people are connected. When we hear of people that struggle and are honest about their struggles as well as their victories, we all feel closer and more connected. One way to be connected to others is through sharing your story (aka, shining your light). We call this ‘shining your light’ because we believe that your story can bring light to others, and through sharing it you are helping to create and spread love and light in the world.

Often there is a stigma around mental health and going to therapy. For a long time we have believed that there is something inherently wrong with you if you go to therapy. That you are either crazy, or too weak to handle things on your own. At HeadFirst, we work to shatter that belief. Not only is it ineffective, but just downright untrue. It’s human nature to feel a wide range of emotions- positive and negative. Feeling sad or stressed at times, especially after something truly upsetting or traumatic, is normal. When did having feelings become a bad thing? When did talking with someone to help sort out your feelings and thoughts become a taboo thing that no one can admit?

It’s time for things to change. It’s time to share your story and spread your light around the world. Go on- shine that light!
